WATER

Nordic Salon

The Nordic House in the Faroe Islands would like to invite all Nordic and Baltic visual artists to submit works for the exhibition WATER – Nordic Salon, which will run from June 16 to August 17, 2018.

The deadline for registration is March 26, 2018, and the deadline for submission of works is May 28, 2018.

A jury will assess all submitted works and select the pieces to be included in the show.

All media and forms of expression within the visual arts are welcome, but all works must in some way relate to the theme water.

Water is both what unites and separates us in the Nordic region, and water has given rise to a whole range of symbolic and formal possibilities throughout the history of art. From illustrative to abstract forms. From maritime paintings to contemporary conceptual works.

The exhibition will offer a take on how art relates to this essential, at once life-giving and devastating, chemical substance today. The political, the poetic. The physical, the fluid. The mythological, the practical, the aesthetic. All approaches to the theme are welcome.

The Nordic House in the Faroe Islands seeks to bring together Nordic artists, in order to foster new networks among them and encourage new ties between their works.

The Nordic House will fund shipment of the works, as well as the travel costs and stay for some selected artists.

To register please write to opencall@nlh.fo

The registration must include:

  • The artist’s name, year of birth, nationality and address.
  • The title of the work, dimensions and any relevant practical information.
  • Max 200 words about the work and how it relates to the subject water. The text can be in any of the Scandinavian languages or in English.
