Nordic Matters opens this weekend

The Nordic countries have long been at the forefront of social change. Their fresh approach to parenting and education puts young people’s rights on the agenda. Their investment in sustainable energy sets inspiring benchmarks. Women in the Nordic countries are achieving a better quality of life by changing the structures of society.

Over one year, Southbank Centre invites you to look more closely at what’s happening in Nordic art and culture. Find out more about sustainable food and communal singing, hygge and saunas, paternity leave and the struggle for gender equality.

There’s music, dance, theatre, literature, spoken word, visual art, design, fashion and food from the Nordic countries to explore throughout our festivals in 2017. You can also join us for talks and debates about what the Nordic countries are doing right, and the challenges they still face.
