Children Should Know That the Nordic House Is Their House

With the new programme series Lítlahús, the Nordic House is taking another step toward making art and culture more accessible to children. The goal is for children to feel at home and experience art on their own terms. Each month will offer new activities for young audiences.

Art for children – up close and at their level
The Nordic House’s new series, Lítlahús, invites children closer to the arts through monthly events for the whole family. Music, theatre, literature, movement, and high‑quality visual expression. Every format is created specifically for children, allowing them to engage actively, ask questions, and become co‑creators of the experience. This is a space for imagination, immersion, and adventure – where children can explore the world of art at their own pace.

Cultural producer Knut-Øyvind Hagen highlights the vision:

“Children and young people are the future. I want to create arenas where they can express themselves freely, encounter strong artistic expressions, and feel a sense of ownership of the house. Lítlahús should be a place where joy and laughter meet wonder and curiosity – a place where children are both audience and co‑creators.”

From astronauts to The Magic Flute
The season includes a real-life astronaut, a performance about democracy, and a reinterpretation of the operetta The Magic Flute. The season kicks off on 31 January with the children’s concert Nu Ska Vi U Å Sejle, opening the doors to a full year of cultural experiences tailored to young audiences.
