Café Systrar and The Nordic House received Tórshavn Municipality's green award

May 5th Café Systrar and The Nordic House received Tórshavn Municipality green award (Grøna virðislønin frá Tórshavnar Kommunu)

The award was given in connection with the municipality's annual environmental week (Umhvørvisvikan).

The award is given to a person, organization or company that has launched an environmentally friendly initiative to protect the environment. Last night, the prize went to Café Systrar and to The Nordic House, which houses Systrar.

In the motivation, it was mentioned that Café Systrar serves sustainable food, that the company car runs on electricity, and that The Nordic House has been approved by the international eco-label Green Key, which places high demands on everything from waste management and limiting consumption to using environmentally friendly cleaning products.

The award motivates to continue the green work in The Nordic House:

"Thank you very much from The Nordic House and our café Systrar", says Gunn Hernes, manager of The Nordic House. "We all know that being seen and recognized is important and motivating. Thank you very much for the pat on the back on the way forward for a greener and more sustainable present and future. We will continue our work and make more sustainable choices and investments in the future."

The award ceremony took place at Reinsaríið in Tórshavn.
