Are you interested in becoming a member of, or nominating someone for, the expert group for the Demos grant programme?
Nordic Culture Point is appointing a new expert group and is looking for input on members from across the Nordic Region, from a range of backgrounds, of all ages, and with a variety of skills.
You can nominate new expert members as an individual or on behalf of an organisation. The nominee must approve the nomination. You can also nominate yourself. Complete the form below and make sure you emphasise the knowledge and experience that you or the nominee have that is relevant to Nordic Culture Point’s work with the programme.
The composition of the expert group will be decided by Nordic Culture Point in November 2024, and the new expert group will begin its work in February 2025.
Expert group members must meet at least two of the following competency criteria:
- Knowledge of or experience with civil society organisation
- Knowledge of or experience with Nordic co-operation
- Knowledge of or experience with organisational and project financing
- Knowledge of or experience with cross-cutting perspectives (sustainable development, gender equality, and a children’s rights and youth perspective)
To ensure a representative expert group, several considerations must be taken into account:
- Geographical representation: The expert group will consist of one representative from each of the Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, as well as the autonomous territories of the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland. Eight members in total.
- Experience background: Members should have experience from different sectors of civil society in the Nordic Region, including public benefit organisations, voluntary organisations, NGOs, non-profit organisations, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Diversity: It is important to have a wide range of experiences, ages, and geographical affiliations.
- Language: Expert group members must be able to speak and read English, as well as either Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish, as these are our working languages.
- Expert group members must reside in a Nordic country, which includes Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and the autonomous territories of the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland. Citizenship of one of these countries is not a requirement.
About the expert group’s work:
The expert group is elected for a three-year term (2025 to 2027).
- The expert group will make decisions based on the programme’s criteria. The expert group does not represent anyone other than itself and will make independent assessments based on its own expertise and experience.
- The workload will vary, but there will be two meetings a year, lasting between two and five working days depending on the travel time to the meeting. Before the meetings, expert group members will read and assess the applications submitted (estimated at 50 to 150 applications per meeting), as well as any other documents and the programme handbook.
- Expert group members will be remunerated for their participation in meetings and receive an annual fee. The remuneration is calculated based on fixed rates. This remuneration is personal and cannot be paid to a company. Additionally, travel expenses and other costs related to the meetings, which take place at Nordic Culture Point in Helsinki, Finland, will be covered.
Deadline for member nominations: 18 November 2024 at 15:59 Finnish time (EET)
