Through its programme of music, literature, performance art and visual art, the Nordic House continuously showcases the diversity in Nordic art. Every year, the house hosts over 400 events which portray the of perspectives present in Nordic art. The study of Nordic art, however, begins even before you enter the house, as several artworks are permanently situated outside: Erik Nyholm’s magnificent ceramic pole, Bernhard Lipsøe’s humorous sheep, Tróndur Patursson’s powerful rock sculpture, Ívar Vargarðsson’s abstract concrete shapes, Hans Pauli Olsen’s dynamic whale killing and Guðrið Poulsen’s organic, perfect circle. They all contribute to the story of Nordic art and to its continuing evolvement.
