Classy Cultural Center Expands Conference Capacity
Things have never been quite the same in Tórshavn since the Nordic House in the Faroe Islands opened almost 25 years ago.

While the conference facilities already offered by the house may well suffice for hosting a number of high quality events and large gatherings in every season, the additional capacity will allow for a more focused effort in the field of business conferences, seminars, meetings and similar activities. And it will come handy as demand for business related events continues to soar.

In spite of a prevalent viewpoint that distinguishes very clearly between cultural events and business events, a more integrated approach is often seen in the Nordic House, highlighting the fact that there is no business life without culture, and no cultural life without business.

The current extension project is sponsored by the Nordic Council, the Faroese government, the municipality of Tórshavn and the A.P. Møller and Wife Chastine McKinney Møller General Purpose Fund.

The target has been set to eight additional conferences a year, and the Nordic House will be cooperating with local hotels to offer accommodation and related services.

Conferencing in Style, article about the Nordic House in Faroese Business Report 2010

Simon Anholt

"The Nordic House in Tórshavn has got to be one of the most spectacular conference and cultural spaces I have ever visited. Frankly, even a cowshed in Tórshavn would be worth visiting, since the Faroe Islands is beyond doubt one of the most exotic and beautiful countries on the planet - and the Norðurlandahúsið is very much more than a cowshed. Seldom have I seen an example of modern architecture that sits so beautifully and sensitively in its natural environment. Anybody who fails to be inspired by an event in this extraordinary, world-class venue must be already dead."

Tom Flemming

"The Nordic House is a fantastic venue for staging events, meeting new people and exploring the cultural qualities of the Faroe Islands. Combining sleek and distinctive architecture with wonderful views over Torshaven, the venue offers great facilities with a lovely atmosphere and it proved to be an excellent venue to hold a workshop".
