Probably the most beautiful house in the Nordic Countries
"On May 8 in 2008, a quarter of a century had passed since the Nordic House in the Faroe Islands opened its doors to the public. And what a strange and different house this was, sitting on a hill above Tórshavn like a spider on its slender legs, waiting for something great to happen.
Many people had their doubts. A house for Nordic culture and arts up on the moors? Something could perhaps be done four or five times a year, but would it ever be able to get a lasting, meaningful life of its own?
It soon appeared, though, that good opportunities inspire activities and imagination. First of all, the house became a centre for music. The Faroese Symphony Orchestra was established and found its home here along with a pulsating multitude of young bands and groups of all kinds, and throughout these 25 years it has housed performances of all the other arts as well.
And the house itself: a resounding instrument, a work of art and a masterpiece of Nordic architecture".
